Hello Fellow Traveler -
Thank you for reading my weekly musings. You are here for a reason and my hope is that you waken to your divine nature.
Sacred places can accomplish the same goal.
One place that shattered my narrow self-image was Notre-Dame de Chartres Cathedral in Chartres, France. Known for it’s 1,100 panels of stained glass, the Cathedral creates a sense of standing before Divine energy.
When I first stepped into the interior, I was awed by the sense of space, stretching in all directions. My small self cringed at the vastness of the interior and I wondered what would keep me anchored.
As I walked further into the mystery of the interior, I felt pulled to walk along the walls and study the beautiful stain glass. Each panel told a story of humanity and Christianity, the sunlight illuminating saints, sinners, and of course, Jesus, Mary, Joseph, the apostles.
As I continued to explore, I noticed a sunbeam making a clear circle on the ancient stone floor. I didn’t realize it at the time, but I had stumbled on the area designed to be illuminated each year on the Summer Solstice.
Centuries ago, the designers of this magnificent structure left one clear piece of glass in the Saint Apollinaire window. It was positioned perfectly to allow clear, unfiltered sunlight to shine on the floor on June 21st of each year. The sun’s rays fall directly on an iron nail set in the floor of the Cathedral.
When I saw the shaft of light, it was the end of July and I didn’t fully appreciate it’s significance. Instead, I marveled at the clear, unfiltered sunlight and I had an epiphany.
I am always connected to the Divine, but my stories of unworthiness or not-enoughness act like stained glass. Instead of receiving the wholeness of light, my stories filtered the energy.
The more I became like the clear glass, the more potent the connection between myself and my creator.
The same is true for you.
Release your stories of limitation and unworthiness and allow the clear light of Love to move through you. You will discover that you no longer have to seek outside yourself for answers.
You will be found.
Love & light,
Kathryn
